Got me a Nintendo DS Lite
I had been tossing around the thought of buying a Sony PSP for a while, but something held me back. The eye candy screen of the PSP kept teasing me every time I would see some one playing it, but the price was just a little too much for my conservative conscience. Man that screen is beautiful though ain't it. Not that I need a another portable gaming system. I already have a GameBoy Color and Game Boy Advance with a nice library of games. So the thought of buying a PSP kept getting tossed around.
Mean while, my nephew had a Nintendo DS since it came out. I had played nintendogs and a few other games on it and thought the second screen was interesting, but it just didn't do anything for me. It just wasn't a PSP. Until he showed me Metroid Prime Hunters. It used the second screen just as you would use a mouse with a PC first person shooter and it was multiplayer. Since I was a big PC FPS guy. It was a natural way of playing the game. I was impressed and confused. Now I was thinking of buying a Nintendo DS. My nephew didn't make it any easer. Every time he'd see me. He'd taunt me to buy a DS so we can play Metroid Prime Hunters together. I grunted like Ebenezer Scrooge and blurted Bahh HUMBUG! So I ended up getting nothing.
After a few months passed, along comes the Nintendo DS light. It was love at first LIGHT. Yes light. After seeing a few video reviews and comparisons of the regular DS vs the DS light it was clear to me this was the holy gaming grail for me. With the brightness of the new screen, a wave of excited enthusiasm came over me. A brighter Metroid Prime Hunters. Plus the thought of all the Nintendo Advance games I have in my collection that would become new again with all that light shining behind there pixels was too much for me to bear. Compared to the PSP It was almost half the price. With the money I would save I could get a few games. Plus I already had a nice collection of GameBoy Advanced games I could play on the DS. I had to get me one!
So I broke down and preordered a Nintendo DS Lite from EBGames for the June 11th launce. Since June 11th was a Sunday. I had to wait till Monday to get it delivered. No big deal but the big kid in me would have liked having a whole day to play with it. First thing I did when I got it was turn it on and played Metroid Prime Hunters with my nephew. He kicked my arse, but I just need to learn the maps and controls better and he will rue the day!
MmWahahaha !!
So far I am enjoying the DS alot and think I had made a right choice. I even get a warm nostalgic feeling when I play New Supre Mario Bros. for the DS.
My only complaint is my Large hands cramp up holding the little stylus for a long time.
But my hand will get used to it..... IT BETTER !!
